What score you need to get accepted to WU BBE (as of the latest WU BBE exam statistics that I have collected in 2025)

From my WU BBE graduation

WU BBE entrance exam is different to a school exam in the way that is not a pass/fail exam with a grade scale, it is a competitive exam where you do not have a minimum score that you need to pass, but rather a relative score to how others who are taking the exam with you on the same day perform. So what happens is: thousands of students (around 3700 applicants in 2025, and I would expect a bit less in 2026 due to the exam being offline now) take the entrance exam and then their scores get ranked from the highest to the lowest and the top 240 students get accepted (also possible to get in from the waitlist up until 250-270th spot or so, the last spot to get in from the waitlist has changed throughout the years). So you do not have to get 100% to get in, you just need to be in the top 6-10% of applicants (the word “just” sounds funny here, I know, it is not that easy, but hey, still possible!) and for that over the years you needed anywhere between 77%-86.8% (depending on the year).

As you can see, you do not need to be perfect and get 100% to get in, you can make mistakes and can mess up one whole question completely and still make it, and I am here to teach you exactly how to do that in the offline setting that I got the chance to go through back in 2019 (the WU BBE entrance exam was offline in 2018 and 2019, and then online in 2020-2025, before being back again to offline in 2026), so stay tuned for the next posts about how to behave in different scenarios/tasks on the WU BBE entrance exam.

These are the statistics from 2025 with ranks and their respective scores (these were calculated by WU BBE applicants from 2025 by hand as WU did not show the total score for the online exam, applicants had to wait until the exam review date to see what they got wrong and right, and back in 2019 when the exam was offline and we did not have the online exam review option we saw our rank and our score in the WU online registration tool, so you are likely to see the same in 2026):

3rd = 95.5% compared to 1st place in 2023 92.6%. Thus, the bar gets higher with each year as the applicants prepare more and know more about what to expect (I dedicate my whole social media, Instagram and YouTube to make sure you know what awaits you, for example by showing the difference between typical Matura tasks and WU BBE exam-style tasks in my posts/reels/stories)

60th = 91.8%

111th = 90%

126th = 89.8%

231st = 87% or 87.6%

243rd (accepted) = 86.8% compared to in 2024 to get accepted 82% for 238th spot. The bar got higher once again, BUT I expect it to be lower in 2026 due to everyone taking the exam offline in more stressful (and same&fair) conditions, my estimate would be 80%+ for 2026, but you should of course aim as high as you can when taking the test

272nd (not accepted)= 86.4%. This small difference between 86.8% and 86.4% and the big difference between the final decision of accepted and not shows how important even 1 point can be and how it can move you up/down by 30-60 places. That is why I cannot emphasize it enough: PLEASE STUDY! Make sure you know all the topics so well that you can solve any task in any format (e.g., graph, equation, scenario-based) in 3-6 minutes (depending on the task and the exam part) efficiently AND correctly :D You really do not want to put yourself in a situation where trying to take a shortcut or take the easy way out will cost you that 1 decisive point!

280th = 86.2%

303rd = 85.8%

340th = 85.2%

374th = 84.6%

389th = 84.4%

443rd = 83.4%

455th = 83.2% In any other year apart from 2025 this score would have been more than enough to get accepted, and objectively, this score is a great one, it is 80%+ and shows that the applicant prepared well and knew most of the things, so I hope the acceptance score goes back to “normal” in 2026…But I would also assume that the students who are planning to take the offline exam and commit to traveling to Vienna (which often means extra expenses) will take preparation more seriously compared to when the exam did not require more from you than just opening your laptop and focusing for 2.5 hours (WU BBE entrance exam was 2.5 hours in 2025 in the online format and now it will be 2 hours in 2026 in the offline format), so we shall see and please do not let this assumption of mine based on historical data relax you too much :)

506th = 82.4%

518th = 82.2%

539th = 80.8%

679th = 80%

801st = 78.4%

1102th = 74.79%

1590th = 72.12%

This brings me to the end of this article so now you should know what score to aim for and another important note here: the pattern that I have noticed was that most students with high scores did exceptionally well on the Economics part (as in, almost perfectly done) that is the part with the most points available (40% compared to 21% for English and 39% for maths), that is why I made a video that is accessible to everyone applying to WU BBE in 2026 and in the upcoming years (https://youtu.be/ezSK5egCOSQ?si=hJPx_FgKAwTZsme8) that focuses exactly on that part!

See you in the next posts,

Yours,

Maria Teachie
